The Flavors of Suzhou Noodles and Gardens — From Susimian to Songhelou
Suzhou, the "City of Gardens," is famous for its culture of eating Susimian (Suzhou-style noodles) starting at dawn. Famous noodle restaurants focus on morning business, so you must visit early to taste the rich first broth. Guanqian Street and Pingjiang Road form a key walking route for gourmet dining. Suzhou cuisine tends to be quite sweet, so if you are craving something salty, focus on noodle dishes.

주훙싱 면관 (朱鸿兴面馆)
A long-standing Suzhou noodle restaurant established in 1938. The signature dishes are Sanxia Mian with shrimp toppings and smoked fish noodles.
Songhelou (松鹤楼 Guanqianjidian)
쑹허러우 (松鹤楼 관첸제점)
Opened in 1757, this is the original, long-standing restaurant of Songshu Guiyu, a sweet and sour squirrel-shaped fish. It is the very place that Emperor Qianlong is said to have visited.

Suzhou's largest bustling food street. There are Chaogubing (sesame bun) stalls and the century-old confectionery shop Chaizijia.

핑장루 (平江路)
An old street where you can walk along the canal. It is a great place to take a stroll while enjoying local snacks such as crab wontons and osmanthus lotus root cakes.
