Davao Durian & Tuna — From Roxas Night Market to Kinilau
Davao is the capital of durian and a major tuna producing region. Durian prices drop significantly during its peak season from August to October, and it is worth trying even for beginners if you eat at a place where they peel it for you on the spot. For grilled tuna jaw (panga), it is safest to make a dinner reservation. Use Grab for city travel, and cash (pesos) is essential at stalls and markets.

A famous restaurant for Filipino-style raw fish salad (kinilau) and grilled tuna jaw. There is a wait during peak dinner hours.

Banquerohan Market (Durian)
방케로한 시장 (두리안)
Davao's largest traditional market. Seasonal durian and mangosteen at farmgate prices; bargaining is a must.

Lachis Sansrival (Dessert)
라치스 산스리발 (디저트)
Davao's dessert mecca. The durian sans-ribal cake is the signature item, but it frequently sells out, so I visited early in the afternoon.
